"Between the chance to pre-order Thought You Knew's 2010 calendar (proceeds going to the Chicago Women's Health Center), David Byrne's new book, and the back-to-school commute that's kicking my butt, I've got fall biking on my mind! Here are some songs to pass the time while you put on those fenders (I gotta put on those fenders...!), patch a tube, or just plain pedal!"

"With the success of her 2009 calendar – 200 were sold at the Bike Winter Art Show launch alone – Finch has embarked on another calendar project featuring more va-va voom photography by Chicago photographer Michelle Nolan. In 2009, instead of enlisting cycling friends, a formal application process was opened to the public, garnering a flurry of interest from would-be models. Biking beauties who made the cut include Miss March, Laura Grene, an actress and singer for the band I Fight Dragons and 'Miss May', Rachel Javellana, a poet and teacher in the Chicago public school system."

As you can see, the women’s calendar features ladies and bikes, while the proceeds go directly to Chicago Women’s Health Center. As well, TyK will have a taste of Sadie Hawkins Style Ride on November 14th, and a after party at Cobra Lounge. On the Tyk/B side (Thought You Knew Better), men as super heroes will be featured, in a comic book style. Friday, November 20th the calendar will release at Mars Gallery, located at 1139 W Fulton Market."

"If you're in the Chicago area, make sure you head out to one of these local hotspots and pick up a Thought You Knew (TyK) Pin-Up calendar. With 100% of the proceeds going to the Chicago Women's Health Center, and a slew of sexy ladies gracing the pages, it's definitely something worth checking out. Plus, the monthly hotties aren't your run-of-the-mill models; they're everyday girls, bike messengers to be exact! "

"The fantasy photo portrayed how the woman saw herself as a confident, feminine and sexual being. She had to challenge herself to show that off to me even if that’s not how she saw herself everyday. That's not easy for the average young woman. Although each one of us has it in us, to go through the process of getting in touch with that side is an inspiring exploration."

Discovered this photographer's work a while back and wanted to share. It's by Michelle Nolan. She does a luscious 'posed' photo like the one shown above and pairs it with a photo of the same girl and her bike in gritty real life light. Makes for an interesting look at contrasts, same girl and bike, two ways to 'see' her.

"Some people don’t like these kind of calendars. That’s ok. I think that the images are tasteful, and I appreciate that these women are riders. The Thought You Knew crew says it well:
